Addictionary!

Addictionary is a fictitious online dictionary that allows us to "add" new words or get others to add new words for definitions that people are looking for (or rather looking for the best word to describe something that hasn't have a word yet). It's very exciting coz it gets your brain thinking even while you're idle at the office (read: me).

I for one have added a few words to some definitions and some definitions may sound quite preposterous too... which makes it funny! For example, Someone would post up a definition that there oughta be a word for:

"noun, A word besides 'Weeaboo' or 'Wapanese', one that sounds more insulting. A white chick/dude who wants to be super super Asian"

My contribution: "Kocasian" (as in  Korea + Caucasian)

Example in a sentence: "The guy that plays Goku in Dragon Ball the Movie is totally Kocasian."

Synonyms (contributions from others): Ricest   Chinke   Dikagian   Orientile   Pikachalk<---*my God this is funny lol*   Rice cracker   Asianaddict

Some also made us think far beyond the mere definitions and wonder whether they are identifiable with our own life for example:

"noun, Nostalgia for the bright, shiny future that was portrayed in the past."

My contribution: "Retrogret" (like retrospect + regret)

Example in a sentence: "He sighed in retrogret while picking up the shovel to continue with his work at the construction site."

Synonyms: yesteryearning   Reminisci-fient   Bassoon   Unsatisfuturey   tomorrowsorrow   nowstalgia   outfutured   Fustalgia  Happyneverafter   Futuralgia

We can also put an existing word for a definition that we think suits the word well. One guy had the nerve to ask the definition:

"noun, A "religious" person who judgemental, hateful, envious, etc."

Like.... ~duhhh.

My contribution: Zionist

Usage: The Zionists were really cruel towards the women and children of Palestine.

Will you look at the synonyms!: HyPEWcrite   Bored again   fundamentally unsound   Power Sinner   Babtist   Eccumeanical   Collusion   fundamentalist   Christian   Catholic Corn-Again   hypocrite   BADtist   Jugemental   hypochristian   ypochristical   Scrupuloss   jelreligious   Fake   Rejelealous   HATERation   high priestist   Biblican   Zealot   A desparate hatewise   TaliBibler   Innersinner   Himoroid   Pseudohim   relijocrite   Conservagodious   Phakecriste   Pharasite   Legophyllicfallacite   Hipocrite   holy poser   Taliban   Muslimaniac   baddah   pneumalaphyte

Anyway, one entry in particular really caught my attention coz I am pretty sure that all of us have experienced this before at least once but have never admitted it before to anyone. We rather keep it to ourselves or just be in denial:

"noun, The occasions when two acquaintances bump into each other on the street but continue to walk their ways pretending not to have seen each other"

My contribution: "Ego-amnesical" (like ego + having amnesia)

Usage: "They were neighbors during childhood but they have not seen each other for so long that their brief encounter at the hotel lobby was ego-amnesical."

Synonyms: hide- stepping   Knew Yorking   Memory jogging   Touchy-feely   Knowsya interchange   Bluffold   Aintquaintance   Ignoriend   Awkwalk   Acquaintexes

I mean really, I thought I was the only one who do this a lot (especially working where I'm working now and how many of them working here were studying in the same uni before) until this was brought up in Addictionary. Now I know it's normal to do it
due to a number of reasons (I guess) such as:

1. Forgot the name
2. Forgot where we've met before
3. Remembered the exact name and the exact occasion where we met before but had a bad experience with each other that time
4. Know the face, don't know the name
5. Hate the person
6. The other person is simply too insignificant we just don't bother to say hi or at least smile in which case... we really are a snob
7. Just trying to avoid the "Err... do I know you?" answer/awkwardness if we really said hi and he/she doesn't remember us or worse of all, we really got the wrong person.

There oughta be a real word in the real dictionary for this don't you think?

Pantas dan Garang 4

2f2f

That's the direct Malay translation of this movie. Personally I would change that to "Pantas and Ganazzzzz". Well, I am not gonna review this movie in detail. It's a typical Hollywood action movie la. High-speed car pursuit, street race, booze, parties, drug-lord-busting, girlfriend dies & boyfriend tries to avenge, guns, skins/seminakedness (dudes and chicks alike), overly-modified cars, NoS, hip hop soundtrack, over the top effects of crash scenes... biasa la...the plot tak lari jauh pun when you put 2 and 2 together. Nothing new.

I'm impressed with the GPS though. Lol.

Shop Till You Drop!

Lately aku tgk wardrobe aku mcm eww... it's really been a while since I last got something new. Semuanya ala-ala dah lusuh, ada yang mak aku terbleach and baju tu tukar kaler jadi pink stripes (instead of blue)... yang dah tak muat tu jangan citer la kan. Lagipun I've to do the "COOL" appearance for the company's sorta like annual dinner this Saturday. Tema "COOL" tu ala-ala smart casual la. I've been wanting to do a li'l shopping (especially looking for a sweater vest/men's cardigan)  since last week to upgrade my office attires tapi tak ada mood giler. Urgh.

So yesterday (or rather last Thursday), after body jam, body attack (10 minit je tahan body attack ni, tak larat dah terkinja-kinja ni) & 10 laps (1 lap being 1 time back and forth ok ops hehe) at the gym's swimming pool, I terus rush ke Midvalley to do a li'l shoppin'. I have a window of just 1 hour or so before Paksu and the gang datang to watch Too Fast Too Furious 4 with me at Midvalley GSC. Masuk Topman, masuk G2000, masuk Zara... semuanya tak berkenan (matila sebenarnya gemok sangat & baju pun overpriced).

Last2 termasuk kedai Padini... tengah belek2 cardigans tu tiba2,

"Mr, you're looking for menswear is it?" Tanya promoter itu.

"Err... yes?" Aku blur.

"Owh this is ladies only, for men's you can go to Robinson, 1st Floor at The Gardens" She explained.

OMG matila pecah lobang... rupa2nya yang aku dok khusyuk belek2 tadi cardigan pompuan.. aku terus berlari-lari anak ke The Gardens' Robinson 1st floor mencari2 men's wear. Not bad gak selection2 dia banyak yang baru2 & not too overpriced. Padini memang local pun so murah skit la (tapi still kualitinya boleh dibanggakan hiks). Finally I was torn between these two:

which one

Tried both tapi rasanya the horizontal stripes are not gonna be flattering on my plus size bod. So I took the grey one and a couple of plain slim-fits (tapi tetappp la saiz L kannn...

By now, Paksu and the gang dah ado kat Tony Roma's having dinner (There goes my 10 laps of swimming) & I had to rush. Anyway, bila nak bayar je promoter tu tanya aku ada kad Robinson tak... kalau ada, on top of the 10% off for members I'll get another RM10 off from newbies voucher. So aku pun rushing la berlari2 naik eskalator to their customer service and guess wat... aku terjatuh kat eskalator tu sebab salah langkah!

OMG... nasib baik tak tergolek kebawah & nasib baik takde orang nampak. Thank God the registration only took like... 30 seconds...? and I immediately got my card with my name printed on it. They also gave me 5xRM10 vouchers (satu boleh guna sekali je huhu). So after all the discounts I paid RM227 kot kalau tak silap. Ok la tu... 1 shirt at Zara RM199, kat Topman RM150-ish.

Hence shop till you (literally) drop!

I made it Tony Roma's in time... for a sec I thought we had to tapau my dinner (which were just starters really) but surprisingly habesss in time! Yay!

I think I'm gonna save the rantings on the movie for another entry la. Wow... rasanya dah pecah rekod > 3 blog entries per month so far this year. Hehehehe I'm enjoying the free time at work while I still can :p

He's Just Not That Into You Premiere

hjniy

I've known of the existence of the novel ever since it was reviewed by Oprah's Book Club a couple of years back and I was excited to know that a movie is gonna be made out of it. Thanks to Lynn, I finally got to watch this long-awaited movie free of charge (with limited number of pre-movie trailers and absolutely NO advertisement) in its premiere yesterday.

As expected, it was soOOooOoOoO cuuuuuuuuuute!

I mean the cast, the plot, the acting... everything's cute! I love it coz it's star-studded and I love it coz it's kinda like a revelation to relationship (to men and women alike).

And my, my... Justin Long have come a long way from being this typical nerdy/dorky characters to a macho guy-next-door personae.

Oh... and it doesn't have all the typical stuffs that a chick flick has. Really, go to the  official website and click the "Top 10 Chick Flick Cliches Not Found In The Movie". They made a whole video to demonstrate the parody and it's demm funny.... and cuuuuute!

I think I mentioned the word "cute" too much already.

I'll be watching this movie again for sure :p

p/s: When I'm finally in the mood to update, blogdrive goes ting-tong *sigh*.

Syoknya Datang Awal!

Yay! Hari ni aku sampai opis around jam 7.40am... that's 1 hour earlier than usual katenyer.

Why?

Sebab pass card aku yang mengambil masa sebulan lebih utk dibuat tu baru siap semalam and finally aku dah boleh menjadi among the first 500 employees yang boleh parking free everyday. Otherwise kena bayar RM5 hari-hari (like what I've been doing for almost 2 month - tak laraaaattttt ok). So tadi aku sampai ada 300+ lagi parking bays available for staffs. I rasa girang sangat! Also, for the first time, I park kat D3 not D5 anymore hehehe.

Another reason is our company baru perkenalkan the flexi hour system (alaa gomen dah lama implement dah huhu) in which we get to choose nak datang kol 8 pagi balik kol 5 pagi ke, nak datang kol 9 balik kol 6 ke atau mcm biasa; datang kol 8.30 balik kol 5.30 ptg (padahal aku dah biasa datang lambat balik awal ni hiks ;)). Anyway, yup u guessed it... aku amik kol 8 selepas mendapati lebih banyak pro dari kontranya:-

Pro:
1) Ample parking space kalau datang awal... sbb normally by around kol 8.15am the first 500 parking quota for staffs dah habis and I'd hafta pay RM5 just to park at the basement.

2) Jam belum overdose.

3) Sempat dengar panggilan hangit kol 7.15-ish on the road.

4) Tak payah berebut dengan makcik-makcik kiasu lif.

5) Tak payah nak rushing kejar kelas Body Jam/Hip Hop kat gym kol 5.45pm.

Kontra:
1) Liatnyeeeeeeeeeeee nak bangun awal

2) Kalau masuk parking gym before 6pm kena bayar RM3 huhu.

Tapi takpe, aku akan cuba gagahi jua katanya.

Gambattene!!!

Lift Kiasuness

Kadang-kadang aku rasa malu tgk org2 yang menyalahgunakan lif. Semalam aku nak turun balik kerja adalah akak ni nampak rushing semacam aje masuk from tingkat 20+ nak turun G floor jugak. Suddenly adalah sorang lagi akak ni masuk from tingkat 19 (i think). Nampak gayanya sihat & cergas je takde sakit apa2... tup tup, jarinya dengan tanpa segan silu menekan butang "18".

Ko tak rasa nak strangle ke orang macam tu?

Sampai je kat tkt 18 tadi, akak yang mula2 masuk tu, as expected kelam kabut la repeatedly tekan button "Close" seraya berkata kat aku,

"It's frustrating when these people are using the elevators just one floor below when they can use the stairs to get there faster." She just need to let it out in disgust.

"Yeah it's annoying right?" I replied.

She was obviously rushing to somewhere. Sampai kat bawah je terus pecut ke luar.

This incident is not an epiphany to me. Rasanya tiap2 hari aku saksikan benda ni especially bila nak turun basement. Basement kat ofis aku ni ada 6 levels; D1 sampai D5; D5 being the lowest reachable by lift. D6 kena turun tangga from D5. It is annoyingly common seeing all these kakak2 and makciks bila time balik kerja je berebut2 nak masuk lift basement nan satu itu and tekan D1 (which is just 1 level below!). Aku hanya mampu menampar dahi sendiri kalau lelaki yang buat gitu (especially yang muda2 ni).

Demmit. Rasa nak je letak sticker yang berbunyi,

"Kalau ko nak turun D1 or D2 tanpa apa-apa keuzuran atau membawa barang2 > 10 kilo, sila turun pakai tangga saja yer. Jangan nak berangan chantek!"

That's why I park my car at D5 no matter what. I don't need to be guilty using the lift to go up/down and confirm takkan penuh unless... orang yang nak naik ke G from D4, D3, D2, D1 tekan both button atas dan bawah & memenuhi lift even if the lift is on its way down - another thing that is soooo kiasu.

Another case of lift kiasuness is people hogging the lift waiting for friends to join in. Masalahnya kawannya masih kat opis, bukannya menunggu kat luar. Perkara yang sering berlaku ketika nak turun lunch sama2. What's up with that?

I mean, just because the facility is there doesn't mean that you don't have to be considerate to others and be selfish. If you are considerate and empathetic, conscious or unconsciously these are not the things that you do when taking the lift.

Ada lagi nak tambah?

Typical Typos/Mispronounciations That Get On My Nerves

Ok aku tak tau dengan orang lain but I feel so very disturbed dengan typos ataupun sebutan yang tak betul yang sangat typical. Kalau sekali dua kali by the same person takpe, but it seemed that these mistakes are getting more common as I observed.

Examples (in no particular order) :

Apabila "goggle" menjadi "google" & vice versa
Contoh 2: Aku ingat nak pegi swimming tadi tapi lupa bawak google la pulak.

Apabila "copper" menjadi "cooper" (tapi jarang sekali vice versa sbb "cooper" org tak tau apa mende, Lee Cooper tau la kan?)
Contoh: Boss, cooper cable dah habis kat stor mana lagi nak cari ni?
Komentar dari saya: Kepala cooper kau! Kalau aku dengar staff aku sebut gitu memang aku suruh dia ulang2 sampai dia sebut betul2.

Apabila "definisi/definition" menjadi "defiNAsi/defiNAtion"
Contoh: The defination of this is available in the glossary/Definasi bagi perkataan ini terdapat di dalam bahagian glosari.
Komentar dari saya: People (in this country especially) are so used to the pronunciation of definasi/defination that it's carried away in writing as well. It's defiNItion/DefiNIsi... not defiNAsi! God! Aku pun makan NASI jugak tapi takde lah terbawak2 sampai typo bagai... eee geramnya aku dengan yang ni because it's too common, it's almost accepted coz I believe many ppl think that this is actually the right spelling/pronunciation kan?! BUT I WON'T ACCEPT THIS!

Apabila "pengakap" menjadi "pengangkap"
Contoh: Ko tak pegi pengangkap ke? Hari ni kan ada koku?
Komentar dari saya: Ok this is more towards pronounciation rather than spelling/typo. I dunno why but I found a lot of people are having a difficult time saying this correctly and it gets on my nerves as well.

Apabila "that means" menjadi "dats mean" or "that's mean"
Contoh: So dats mean you're not going to the office tomorrow?
Komentar dari saya: Ok, di kalangan kawan2 kitorang selalu je sengaja pakai "dats mean" just to sound bimbo-ish but we know the correct phrase should be "that means". Contoh: "So dats mean mekap MAC ni susah nak cair la ekk?? OoOoO..."
Masalahnya bila kita dengar orang cakap dalam meeting2 or tulis dalam e-mail we cannot help but think if there are other people hearing/reading it wondering "Who's mean?" or "What's mean?" or "Who's being mean here?"

Apa lagi?

Dari Mana Datangnya RM1 Itu?

Satu teka-teki telah membuatkan beberapa officemates aku tak khusyuk sembahyang Jumaat tadi justeru memberi idea untuk aku menghapdet blog hari ini.

Soalannya seperti berikut (telah diubahsuai menjadi begitu bimbo sekali bunyinya):

Lenny, Jaja & Katik telah berkonvoi ke Bangsar Village selepas bermain squash di satu pagi Sabtu dengan niat nak pergi brunch ala-ala Sex and The City kat Delicious (tapi belum mandi, pakai seluar trek, berpeluh bagai, mekap nan ado, pendek kata... HAZABBBBBB LA).

On the way nak pegi D'lish tu lalu la butik ZARA (padahal tak on the way langsong kann).

Memang patut pun murs murs. Ops.

So nak dijadikan cerits, terpaksa la Jaja pinjam duit Lenny RM25, duit Katik pun RM25.

"DISKAUN 10% NYAHHHH!!"

teriak Jaja kegembiraan. Matanya berkaca-kaca sebab terharu.

So cashier tu bagi la balik baki RM5. Entah kenapa gila agaknya, Jaja bagi balik RM1 kat Lenny, kat Katik pun RM1 jugak. So hutang Jaja ngan Lenny & Katik adalah masing-masing RM24 katanyer.

Kalau ikutkan, dalam tangan Jaja sekarang ni la.... by right ada RM3 sajork.

Muehehehe.

I Used to Love Receiving Mails

Ingat lagi masa kecik2 dulu sangat excited bila posmen datang hantar surat. Dengar je bunyi motor posmen, berkejaran ke luar nak ambik surat. Begitulah excitednya bila dapat surat biarpun surat tu mostly bukan I yang punya. Kalau bukan daddy punya, mummy yang punya, kalau bukan diorang punya, my uncle/auntie yang punya (since they used to live there at my parents'). Lagi seronok kalau kena sign surat2 berdaftar. Bayangkan kalau dapat surat sendiri... memang gumbira sepanjang hari dibuatnya.

Tapi sekarang dah lain. Orang hantar khabar pakai sms, pakai e-mail, pakai yahoo messenger.

Kini, perasaan menerima surat melalui posmen dah berubah 720 darjah menjadi benci.

Kenapa engkau tanya?

Kerna yang tiba cumalah "surat-surat" sebegini:

I'd like to think that I've lived up 55% of my teenage life tho :p

(10-16 points) U are Garfield:~U are very comfortable, easy going, and u definitely know how to have fun but sometimes u take it to an extreme. U always know what u are doing and u are always in control of ur life. Others may not see things as u do, but that doesn't mean that u always have to do what is right. Try to remember, ur happy spirit may hurt u or others.

(17-23 points) U are Snoopy:~ U are fun; u are very cool and popular. U always know what's in and u' re never out of style , u are good at knowing how to satisfy everyone else. U have probably disappeared for a few days more than once but u always come home with the family values that u learned. (24-28 points) U are Elmo:~ U have lots of friends and u are also popular, always willing to give advice and help out a person in need. (29-35 points) U are Sponge Bob Square Pants:~ U are the classic person that everyone loves. U are the best friend that anyone could ever have and never wants to lose. U never cause harm to anyone and they would never not understand ur feelings. Life is a journey, it' s funny and calm for the most part. Stay away from traitors and jealous people and u will be stress free.

(36-43 points) U are Charlie Brown:~ U are tender, u fall in love quickly but u are also very serious about all relationships. U are a family person. U call ur Mom every Sunday. U have many friends and may occasionally forget a few Birthdays. Don't let ur passion confuse u with reality.

(44-50 points ) U are Dexter:~U are smart and definitely a thinker... Every situation is fronted with a plan. U have a brilliant mind. U demonstrate very strong family principles. U maintain a stable routine but never ignore a bad situation when it comes. Try to do less over thinking every once in a while to spice things up a bit with spontaneity!

Now don't spoil it! Have some Fun!! Change the subject of the notes to what u are and tag it on.

now i'm tagging:

1) paksu
2) topo
3) jaja
4) nrul
5) tom
6) dick
7) harry
8) mr. smith
9) mrs. smith
10) siti tanjung perak
